Introducing the Omni Connector for Coalesce

Workbooks, queries, and dashboards now cataloged alongside the data that powers them.

Most data teams have spent years building control into their pipelines. Transformation logic is documented, lineage is tracked, and data quality is monitored.

But that governance stops at the consumption layer. Dashboards live outside the catalog, and ownership is unclear. You often don’t find out when something changes upstream until someone files a ticket.

Coalesce Catalog already connects your warehouse, models, and transformation logic into a single governed inventory. Our new connector for Omni’s AI analytics platform extends that inventory to include the workbooks, queries, and dashboards your teams use to make decisions — cataloged alongside everything else, with lineage that runs all the way through.

Two governed layers, connected

Coalesce builds control into your pipelines so data is reliable before it reaches anyone. Omni is built on a semantic model that defines metrics and AI context, enforces permissions, and ensures everyone is working from the same numbers.

Until now, those two layers haven’t talked to each other. Data teams had no visible path to the dashboards downstream when they made table changes in your warehouse. BI content had no connection to the governed data powering it or who owned it.

The Coalesce + Omni connector closes that gap. By cataloging Omni assets directly in Coalesce, teams get a single, centralized inventory where they can discover, document, and govern BI content right next to their tables, models, and pipelines.

What’s supported

The connector covers three core Omni asset types:

  • Workbooks — Catalog your Omni workbooks with asset names and types, owner and editor information, inherited tags, field descriptions, direct links back to Omni, and asset-level lineage connecting related tables, workbooks, and queries.
  • Queries — Surface Omni queries with ownership details, descriptions for published queries, direct Omni links, and lineage that ties queries to the workbooks, dashboards, and underlying tables they depend on.
  • Dashboards — Bring in Omni dashboards with ownership, tags, direct links, and lineage that maps relationships between dashboards and the queries or AI summaries that power them.

What the connector enables

Data teams can answer impact questions across the full stack. When a table changes, you can trace the effect through your transformation layer down to the Omni content that depends on it before something breaks and your users’ dashboards stop working.

Business users find and evaluate Omni content with descriptions, discoverability, and traceability to build trust in data and improve decision-making.

Key capabilities include:

  • Centralized discovery: Omni workbooks, queries, and dashboards become searchable and browsable in one governed catalog, so users don’t have to leave Coalesce to find the analytics content they need.
  • Ownership visibility: Editor and owner information is surfaced for every cataloged Omni asset, making it clear who to go to with questions or change requests.
  • Direct navigation: Every cataloged asset includes a link back to its source in Omni, so users can move seamlessly between the catalog and the business intelligence and AI workflows.
  • Richer context: Available descriptions, tags, and field-level documentation are pulled in to help users evaluate metric definitions, context, and whether an asset is trustworthy and relevant.
  • Asset-level lineage: See how workbooks, queries, and dashboards relate to each other and to upstream data assets, supporting impact analysis and governance workflows.

Built to grow

This first release is designed to cover the foundational governance workflows Omni customers need today — discovery, documentation, ownership, and impact analysis. But it’s just the starting point.

As early adopters begin using the connector in production, we plan to expand coverage based on real-world feedback. Future enhancements may include deeper usage signals, richer metadata extraction, SQL-level visibility, and more granular lineage.

Get started

The Omni connector is available now in the Coalesce Catalog. Reach out to your Coalesce account team or check the documentation to connect.

If you’re attending Snowflake Summit in San Francisco, June 1 -4th, we’ll both be there. You can learn more about everything we’re doing at Snowflake Summit here, and learn where to find the Omni team here. We hope to see you there!
